Counselling & Therapy
Rob Frazer

Talking to others is often the way we try to work through problems. Often we confide in people close to us, but there are times when these people are not enough, or perhaps it is actually these same people that are now the cause of our need to talk.  I follow the BACP code of ethics, offering a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space to discuss and work out whatever it is you need to resolve. I hold a degree in psychology, a clinical MA in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and a post graduate diploma in CBT skills.

My psychoanalytic training means that I am very interested in the unconscious factors involved in people's problems, and I believe that
unresolved traumas and incidents in childhood can have a long lasting effect throughout life. Dream analysis is often a strong feature of my work, and an area I am very experienced in. The CBT skills I use also mean that I can offer a way to help control immediate symptoms (e.g. panic attacks, phobias, compulsions) and devise specific structured ways to tackle problems.

Although I have trained academically as a psychologist and psychotherapist for over 12 years, I do not foist theoretical models on people and try to 'shoehorn' them to fit with theoretical expectations. Theory does of course inform my work, but first and foremost every person who comes to see me is unique. Therapy is a process where, in a safe environment and at a pace you are comfortable with, we progress together to understand the way you see the world, and work through whatever issue has brought you to therapy.
